Our client, a well established Canadian based public accounting firm is searching for their next Senior Tax Accountant.
They have provided entrepreneurs and business decision-makers in local, national, and international markets with accounting, assurance, and tax planning advice since 1954.
For 70 years, they have assisted businesses in Northern Ontario from incorporation through explosive growth and into mature, sustainable businesses and have been a trusted partner in many client’s business journeys.
We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be work closely with the Tax Partner, along with the other Partners and Senior Managers, to provide their expertise on complex tax services.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assist the Tax Partner in developing and implementing tax planning services, including researching complex tax issues and preparation of memoranda
- Perform special tax engagements
- Execute and complete complex tax returns
- Review a wide range of corporate tax returns
- Work effectively with peers and senior managers on time-sensitive file planning
- Review the accuracy of tax returns, minimize tax liabilities, and determine tax credits and provisions
- Recommend tax strategies that align with the Firm’s strategic vision and goals
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- 5-7+ years of direct experience with complex tax in a public accounting setting
- Must possess a CPA designation.
- Possession of an LPA designation is considered an asset.
- Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course provided by CPA Ontario is considered a strong asset.
- Expert knowledge and abilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep and other tax research software.
- High proficiency with accounting software (CCM iFirm).
- Superior attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to problem-solve independently and within a team environment.
- Strong comprehension and execution of written and verbal communication.
Physical Requirements/Environment:
- Prolonged periods of sitting in a stationary position
- Prolonged periods of typing on a keyboard and reading a computer screen
- Ability to work in an office environment.
- Able to work 35 hours a week and during business hours (9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday)
- Open environment with some disruptions
• Able to commute or relocate to Sudbury, ON.
• Seasonal overtime is required.
