The Capital Markets Investment Banking group provides equity
and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to
corporations. The Investment Banking
group of professionals are dedicated specifically to advising clients on
mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, hostile takeovers, buyouts, takeover
defense and restructurings. There is an
extensive amount of interaction with other groups within the firm in order to
provide clients with customized financing and advisory solutions.
Based in Montreal, the primary roles and responsibilities
for this Associate position within the Diversified, Technology, Media and
Telecommunications Investment Banking group include leading and generating
corporate finance analytics, developing client deliverables, mentoring and
directing junior professionals and generally supporting senior professionals in
business development and transaction execution activities.
What You'll Be
- Assist in developing proposals to
clients and potential clients for equity and debt placements, mergers, asset or
company divestitures or acquisitions, and other financial products and advisory
- Conduct industry research and
analysis to assist in the identification and/or analysis of investment banking
- Develop and audit sophisticated financial
- Participate in cross functional
teams and liaising with other units of Capital Markets in executing mandates or
preparing proposals for clients
- Prepare industry and financial
analysis to determine client recommendations
- Lead industry comparable value and
transaction precedent analyses
- Assist in company due diligence
- Prepare offering memoranda and
- Assist with prospectus drafting
- Mentor, train and direct junior
- May conduct presentations to clients
as a member of the client coverage team.
What You Need To
- Must be legally eligible to work in
Canada at the location(s) specified above and, where applicable, must have a
valid work permit or study permit that allows the candidate to fulfill the
requirements of the role
- Minimum of 5 years of prior work
experience in Investment Banking or Corporate Banking. Completion of an MBA, CA
or CFA, is an asset.
- Excellent analytical ability
including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices,
including cash-flow analysis.
- Knowledge of accounting principles
relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations.
- Bilingual in French and English is
required (oral & written).
- Extremely dedicated and motivated
individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming
significant levels of responsibility for assignments to be completed within
short time frames.
- Excellent interpersonal and
presentation skills, to actively participate in developing and maintaining productive
- Well-developed organizational skills
in order to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projects.
- Demonstrated job commitment
including a willingness to work, as well as personal flexibility and
adaptability in order to meet client deliverables and timelines.
- Ability to mentor and train junior
- Excellent oral and written
communication skills in order to convey factual and conceptual information to
others and promote the interests of the institution.
