Our client, a well established public accounting firm, is seeking a Tax Manager to join their growing team in the downtown core. Our client provides a broad range of advisory services which includes assisting companies and individuals with a wide range of tax consulting services. The ideal candidate for this role is an accomplished senior tax professional who brings strong technical experience and prefers the culture and hands on exposure of a smaller firm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Plan, organize and deliver tax planning and advisory support to small and medium sized Canadian enterprises 
  • Prepare relevant correspondence through research, knowledge of the client and working with senior team members
  • Developing and implementing strategies for clients to capitalize on business opportunities 
  • Coaching, managing and mentoring Junior Tax Staff and other professional staff members
  • Assist with business development opportunities for the firm 
  • Ability to specialize in different areas of tax as needed 

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and behaviours: 

  • Must possess a CPA/CA and completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Course or Master's in Tax
  • At least five years' experience in public accounting with a specialization in tax for a minimum of 2-3 years 
  • Experience as a manager or at least 2 years of experience at a senior level in tax 
  • Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation, corporate tax compliance & planning for Owner-Managed clients
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex or ambiguous information and clearly identify solutions for clients
  • Has a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the quality of work of his/herself and that of the firm and their team 
  • Displays business acumen, strategic agility and demonstrates integrity and sound judgement in decision making and client recommendations
  • Ability to build long standing relationships, as well as network with the wider tax community
  • Superlative verbal and written communication and presentation skills required
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and flexibility while managing multiple priorities 
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
