Senior Account Manager, Commercial Banking

A Tier One Canadian Bank is seeking Senior Commercial Account Managers, with a natural talent for sales and portfolio management, to join their organization in the GTA and South-Western Ontario.  The primary focus of this role will be to proactively build and maintain an existing portfolio of clients within a specific industry sector.  Your responsibility will be to grow and deepen existing and new relationships through the delivery of specialized industry expertise and whose specialized and proactive approach aligns sales, products, risk policy and market strategies to deliver a broad range of solutions specific to the clients' needs. Responsibilities:

  • Leverage past sales experience for purposes of proactively and professionally prospecting and identifying leads from new and existing clients within your industry specialization and target market
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the clients' financial position in their industry, business model and management capabilities
  • Demonstrate sound portfolio management and risk mitigation through the review of financial statements, identifying trends, monitoring risk, and assessing for credit structuring
  • Provide an exceptional client experience by delivering superior business and financial advice
  • Leverage the expertise of the bank by identifying referral opportunities (i.e. cross-selling the broader bank product range), and making introductions to the appropriate referral partners/specialists
  • Collaborate and coordinate the various teams to develop and execute an effective client contact strategy

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Canadian Commercial Banking experience University degree, ideally in commerce, business administration, or related experience
  • Proven track record in sales and business development coupled with exceptional client relationship management skills
  • New client acquisition skills (e.g. pitching the value proposition, lead generation, cold calling, asking for referrals etc.)
  • Strong credit risk skills including the assessment of risk and financial analysis, credit structuring/solutions and deal presentation
  • Specialized industry experience in a past role (i.e. real estate, healthcare, agriculture, retail, manufacturing, technology etc.)
  • Deep product and services knowledge dependent on industry specialization
  • Experience with emerging communications and technology
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Goal-orientated, driven and highly collaborative
